Our 5th Thursday Comedy Club returns with regular Compere Stephen Grant

Guests this month are Mark Simmons and Laura Lex.

Mark Simmons:

You may recognise Mark from appearances on Mock the Week.  Mark is an exceptional one-liner comedian. It won him a place in Dave’s prestigious Best Joke of The Fringe in Edinburgh 2017. His solo show at the festival, One-Linerer was also a huge hit, with sell out shows every day and was nominated Best Show by the Amused Moose Comedy Award Fringe Show 2017. As well as recently recording a couple of TV pilots, he has starred in the hit BBC3 documentary One for The Road, where a film crew followed him alongside Seann Walsh on tour in the Scottish Highlands.

Laura Lexx:

Laura Lexx is a star on the rise, one of those rare comics to reach the top of the live comedy club circuit and then expertly make the jump across to polished Edinburgh Festival shows and fantastic television appearances. Having picked up a host of awards and nominations for her circuit work, including winning the Comics Comic Best MC Award 2017, she has transformed her mercurial ability with an audience into very sharp hour long performances. She made her Live At The Apollo debut in December 2018, receiving an unprecedented reaction both from the live crowd and from viewers at home. Lexx can often be heard on the radio as well, as one of the hosts of the Comedy Club on Radio 4 Extra, where she writes and records all her own material for the show.

Stephen Grant:

Stephen Grant is one of the UK’s funniest, hardest working and most respected comedians. Whether entertaining full-size theatres, voicing animations, warming up TV audiences, presenting radio shows or hosting corporate award nights Stephen never fails to pull in the laughs. His speed and dynamism create a magical energy which has audiences rapt and hanging onto his every word. As a writer, Stephen has written on TV shows from Mock the Week to Live at the Electric as well as for Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show and Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Week.
